Lewis County Nursing Home
Included in this list is "the renovated Neilson building." The intent of this project is to provide full sprinkler coverage throughout the building. The Home offers all levels of health care ranging from domiciliary to skilled nursing care and two Alzheimer's units. Members are assigned by medical staff to the unit that best fits their needed level of care. Four full-time physicians and over 330 RNs, LPNs, and VNACs provide 24-hour a day, 7-days a week medical coverage.
It is equipped with its own post office, bank, assembly hall, guest house, mini post exchange, chapel, cemetery, lake, animal park, museum, and several military-related historical sites. The Home also has its own publication and television station. The Home is the largest and oldest veterans home of the four in Illinois and one of the larger and older veterans homes in the country.

There appears to be a conflict in the floor plan of the LTC building in both the structural and architectural plans when overlaying the 1st floor with the basement floor for the 2 north wings. Basement floor plan/footprint appears to be larger than the 1st floor. If this is intentional it would seem to require more documentation to indicate green roof, etc. If unintentional, please provide updated design documentation to clarify the scope requirements. Sheet SM101 does not appear to require demo of the existing “North Tunnel” that runs generally west of the Kent Building , but if not demolished it will conflict with the proposed LTC building. The Domiciliary on this State Veterans Home campus is intended to be a general purpose Domiciliary, and not a specialized mental health treatment facility found on other federal VA run campuses. It is intended that feedback and confirmation of this approach will be gained at the 35% review submission made to the USDVA. This response clarifies that while the Offeror shall be responsible for the design and coordination of furniture and FF&E items, the final PO for furniture shall be placed by the State of Illinois' purchasing arm, coordinated via the CDB.
